Drama on 4 is coming to us once again with a Moominous radio production! They will be telling the story of ‘Comet in Moominland’, reuniting the stellar team that brought us ‘Moominland Midwinter’ on Christmas day in 2021. In this fantastic adventure, young Moomintroll and his friend Sniff set off on a daring quest to find out what the strange and mysterious signs of a comet are all about. They meet new friends along the way, face perilous dangers and overcome their fears with bravery, ingenuity and friendship. It might be the end of the world, but there is always time amidst the chaos for some dancing and a cup or two of Palm wine!

Introducing the new Moomin Arabia 2023 winter collection, ‘Sliding’ featuring a spirited wintry atmosphere with a competitive streak!

This winter collection continues the story and pastel colour palette from 2022’s winter collection, from the comic Moomin’s Winter Follies (1955) featuring not only the beloved Moomin characters along side Mr Brisk, the over enthusiastic winter sports fanatic, but also two lesser-known characters from the Moomin comics!

Comprising of a Mug and Bowl, the new winter seasonals will be available for a limited time from 6th October!

Discover the largest exhibition in central Europe dedicated to the remarkable life and artistic achievements of Tove Jansson. This immersive exhibition, set in a Parisian townhouse, showcases unseen works by Tove Jansson alongside commissioned pieces from contemporary artists.

In celebration of Moomin's Day on 9th August, Arabia is set to release a limited edition Moomin's Day mug. This charming mug is based on Tove Jansson's novel, 'Moominpappa at Sea,’ from 1965 and features beloved characters Moomintroll, Moominmamma, Moominpappa, and Little My, all set against a picturesque shoreline that captures the essence of the island themes significant in many of the Moomin stories. 

Read Hour will be returning for its third and final year in the UK on September 8th, following a hugely successful campaign last year. The initiative, which is in collaboration with Moomin Characters, encourages people of all ages to set aside an hour to read on UN International Literacy Day.

During her career, Tove Jansson also illustrated books written by other prestigious authors. The two most important of these were illustrated in the 1960s, J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Tove also illustrated Carroll’s book The Hunting of the Snark.

With the help of Moomin Characters, the renowned Finnish literacy initiative, Read Hour, will be returning to the UK on 8th September following an incredible first year!

For children and adults alike, taking ownership of reading is one of the important steps to enjoying and embracing the world of reading and writing so, this year there is a focus on the cultivation of “reading nooks” – a dedicated space for reading to help incorporate it into daily routines. 

Moomin by Arabia and the Red Cross have collaborated globally on an initiative that celebrates friendship and kindness. The collection features original illustrations byTove Jansson for the Finnish Red Cross from 1963.
