The summer has reached Moominvalley. The sun warms the air and the flowers in the meadow are in full bloom. The inhabitants of Moominvalley have hurried outdoors to admire the flowers and enjoy the marvellous summer day. There are many different types of blooms amidst the green leaves, but Snorkmaiden seems to prefer buttercups. Is Moomintroll picking those for her? Mymble is also enchanted by the meadow but Snufkin goes fishing, to enjoy some peace and quiet. Is Moomintroll going to join Snufkin, or is he staying with the other at the meadow?
