This August, the magical world of Tove Jansson's Moomins came to life on the tracks of Seaton Tramway. Moomin Summer Adventure welcomed Moomin fans and families from across the country for a summer adventure filled with storytelling, puppetry, tram rides and plenty of Finnish-inspired fun.
The popular event, which brought the much-loved world of the Moomins to Seaton Tramway, proved to be a firm favourite with visitors of all ages, far and wide, creating unforgettable memories this summer.
A journey into Moominvalley
Guests began their adventure beneath a Moomin archway, stepping into a world of storytelling and wonder. Aboard a beautifully decorated tram, they were welcomed by The Narrator, who shared fascinating stories and facts about everything Moomin as the journey took them through the picturesque Axe Valley.
Along the route, little Moomin touches were hidden at the different stations, creating something for visitors to discover along the way.
A puppet show to remember
The experience continued at Colyton Station with a charming live puppet show, bringing the enchanting world of Moominvalley to life for children and adults alike. Guests passed the Hattifatteners as they stepped off the tram, then made their way down to the setting, where the Moominhouse sat nestled among the trees. The performance ofMoomin and the Wishing Starcaptured the hearts of all who watched.
The performance included a shadow puppetry scene in which Moominpappa remembers how he met Moominmamma, perfectly capturing his character and pomp.
Crafts, wishes and treats
Visitors were also treated to delicious refreshments, including fresh homemade scones and wonderfully flavoured bubble tea from CUPP. Children had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a range of Moomin-inspired activities, like making their very own puppet shows, colouring and a very active Moomin quiz with gemstone prizes.
One of the lovely touches that tied in perfectly with the puppet show was the chance to write a wish on a ribbon and tie it up. This became a beautiful, growing collection of hopes and dreams from every visitor.
At the end of the visit, guests got to take home an exclusive Summer Adventure goody bag packed with Moomin colouring, character pens, bookmarks and treats for all to enjoy. The children got to exchange their quiz gems for their final prize!

The tram station itself offered a lovely gift shop with a selection of Moomin items, and the café featured a Moomin menu with lots of Moomin-inspired dishes like Moominpappa's meatballs and Moomintroll's blueberry pancakes.
The adventure didn't have to end there. Visitors could hop back on any tram and explore the rest of the stops at their leisure—and perhaps spot a few more Moomin touches along the way.
With the summer adventure now finished, the spirit of Moominvalley lives on.
