Delightful Moomin Easter Paintings By Tove Jansson
Tove Jansson was an incredibly talented and versatile artist. She worked in many styles and mediums and was skilled in a wide variety of techniques. This can be seen in her diverse body of work, from the beautiful ink-line drawings we all know and love in the Moomin novels and comics, to the large-scale murals she was commissioned to create for public spaces.
As Easter approaches, we thought we would share the four beautiful Easter paintings Tove Jansson created in 1950. The Moomin Easter illustrations were made using a mix of ink, gouache and watercolour, and feature some of our most beloved Moomin characters celebrating different Easter traditions. The illustrations were later sold as postcards at the department store Stockmann in Helsinki, Finland in the spring of 1956.
