The Ancestor is a distant relative of the Moomins, and one of the most mysterious characters in Moominvalley. There are several references to Moomin ancestors in the Moomin stories, but in the book Moominland Midwinter, Moomintroll actually meets one. The ancestors are an important part of Moomin history and identity, serving as a reminder of where Moomins came from – and what still lives within them.
