Since 2017, Moomin Characters and Oxfam have shared a wonderful partnership grounded in shared values of love and equality.

This spring, Oxfam launched their first exclusive Fair Trade Moomin products range, handcrafted by the skilled artisans of Hatale, in the foothills of the Himalayas!

Hatale are a Nepalese manufacturer and exporter of handmade woollen felt items and knitwear and a member of Fair Trade Group.

Hatale meaning ‘made by hand,’ are a perfect fit for both the Moomins and Oxfam. As a company, their values are reflected in a deep respect for the environment,  careful selection of materials, and care for both their employees economic and social wellbeing. 

Hatale strongly support their workers with fair wages that are above minimum wage, flexible working conditions for those with care responsibilities, maternity leave, paid leave, bonus payments and a retirement fund. They also pay for the education of two children per worker up to the age of 15! 

Their mission is to develop Nepali traditional craft industries to improve the living standards of the artisans and their families from the rural areas of the country solely through Fair Trade practises.
