80 years of Moomin stories... It all began with the first Moomin story, The Moomins and the Great Flood, which was published in 1945. Tove Jansson wrote it during World War II as a fairy tale to comfort herself during dark times, and it reflects the reality of millions of people who were fleeing and seeking shelter. The story follows Moominmamma and
Moomintroll as they search for a new home and the missing Moominpappa. Eventually, they end up in what will become known as Moominvalley. There stands a tall blue house – a joyful place where everyone is welcome, whoever they are, whenever they arrive. The Moominhouse is a symbol of security, protection and belonging. These are universal, timeless needs that are just as important today as they were 80 years ago. The door is always open.
The coffee beans in Moomin 80 Winter Edition come from southern Brazil. We roast them gently according to old traditions and then flavor them with chocolate and a touch of mint.
